Heraldry is a system of signs and symbols which originated in the Middle Ages as a means of recognizing warriors on the battlefield. Since armour or coat of mail was invariably worn, there was no difficulty distinguishing friend from foe even at some distance, for each man bore a shield of a unique design.

Each symbol and colour that is used in Heraldry is a collection of representations of beliefs and values of the warrior who wore it. The object of this exercise is to design your heraldic shield that represents you. The symbolism that you will use to design your shield will represents your family values, your personal attitudes and your cultural beliefs.

Heraldry

You will need a place to keep all of your heraldry resources

1. Create a new folder in your G: drive

1. right click
2. select New Folder
3. named Heraldry

1. Open your outlook
2. Open the email that is subject : Heraldry
3. Right click on the attachment – SHIELD06.GIF
4. Save to your Heraldry folder in your G: drive

From your homework you should know what type of images you need to find.

2.  Finding images to use

a) This website http://whaddyamean.com/heraldry/ under blogroll has a list of link to find images from

b) You can also use www.google.com images

Once you have found the right image you will need to save it to your Heraldry Folder.

1. Right click on the images
2. Select  Save image as
3. Use a appropriate title to save your image under so that it will be easier to find later
4. Save to the location Your Heraldry Folder

You will need to reference all the images you find

1. Have a word document open while you are finding images
2. In the word doc type the name of the image
3. Copy and paste the Url you found the image from
